MEGAN C. ALLEN, Attorney at law
Megan C. Allen is the founding attorney of Allen Law Firm, LLC. Megan is a native of Lyons, Georgia. She attended Georgia Southwestern State University where she majored and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Political Science and Psychology. She graduated from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. There, she received the Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research and Drafting.
During law school, Megan sought and obtained an internship at the Houston County Public Defender’s Office. It was during this internship that Megan discovered her mission and passion for the law. More importantly, Megan discovered her voice and who she wants to fight for. Megan spent her entire law school career devoted to her clients at the Public Defender’s Office. During this internship, Megan was sworn into the practice of law under a supervising attorney by the Georgia Supreme Court through her participation in the Third Year Practice Act. Participation under this act allowed a participant to represent clients in all stages of Georgia criminal legal procedures. During her internship, Megan was entrusted with representing clients in each area of the criminal defense process. She acted as second chair on numerous felony trials, including murder cases, represented clients in numerous court hearings, including preliminary hearings, bond hearings, probation violation hearings, motion hearings, motion for new trial hearings, and served subpoenas, investigated cases, interviewed witnesses and negotiated with the State to obtain results for her clients. During her time as an intern, Megan co-authored a Writ of Certiorari to the Georgia Supreme Court.
After graduating and passing the Georgia Bar, Megan was offered and accepted a position at the Houston County Public Defender’s Office. She has worked in the Houston County Public Defender’s Office in both the Misdemeanor and Felony divisions. As a licensed attorney, Megan continued to devote her expertise, voice, and her passion to each client. Additionally, while at the Public Defender’s Office she served on the Day Reporting Centers substance abuse treatment team providing defense representation to those within the program and would assist with the Houston County Accountability Court treatment team when needed.
Megan is a licensed member in good standing with the Georgia Bar Association. She is also a member of the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where she serves on the Georgia Indigent Defense Committee. She is a member of the Young Lawyers Association. Megan is also a graduate of the William “Bill” Daniel Trial Advocacy Program. She is licensed and practices in all State Courts across Georgia, with a centralized focus in Houston County, Georgia.
